Toyota Allion
The Toyota Allion is a sedan which resembles the Toyota Vios, following most of the same design cues, but with a slightly larger size. The Toyota Allion is in production since 2002. It is available in models with 4 different engines, from 1.5 to 2 liters, and powers from 109HP to 152HP.
The engine in the 2.0 liter version of the car is 1AZ-FSE engine, with VVT-I technology. It is a variant of the D-4 engine, which uses direct injection of petrol. The Toyota Camry also has the same engine, but without the D-4 technology. It uses the conventional electronic fuel injection system. The benefit of the D-4 direct injection system is that fuel and air are directly injected into the cylinder. This helps to fine-tune the amount and timing of injection very accurately. It results in an extremely efficient air/fuel ratio of 50/1, improving both the power and mileage of the vehicle.
The Allion comes in three different sedan models. The Allion 2.0 liter is the only one offered with mechanical CVT. The mechanical CVT does a great job, accelerating the car from 30 to 50mph in just five seconds. The mileage could do with some improvement, though. At 24mpg, it is lesser than some of the other cars produced by Toyota in the same category.
In conclusion, the Allion is a decent option if you want a relatively simple sedan. Even though the interiors are not as spacious as they probably should be, the car is perfect for a small family. |
