Kia Optima
Halfway through model year 2006 Kia decided that they were going to totally redesign their Optima model. This proved to be a good idea as it appears that the new Kia Optima is going to be quite popular. This new model competes in a very crowded mid size class, but it appears that it will be able to steal away some business from the more expensive manufacturers.
The new Kia Optima starts out in price at $16,000. If you opt for one of the higher priced models you will top out at $20,000. For the lower price you will get a four cylinder engine that puts out 161 horsepower. But if you step up a couple models a 185 horsepower V6 is available. Even though both of these engines are a bit undersized, they perform quite well on the road.
The biggest improvement of the new Kia Optima is its exterior look. The past model was too plain, but with the new one the look has been spruced up a bit. On the inside the Kia Optima is more than capable of handling five people as well as a lot of luggage in the spacious trunk.
When it comes down to it the Kia Optima has a lot of competition that they are going to have to beat out. Early on indications are that they should be able to steal some customers away from the more established players. With price alone, the Kia Optima positions itself in a great place. |
