Ford Fusion :
The 2006 Ford Fusion is tighter, cleaner, and better built than any other sedan on the road. Ford completely designed, engineered, and tested the car digitally before it was made into a reality. It is a 4-door, 5-passenger family sedan, available in 5 trims, ranging from the I4 S to the V6 SEL.
The base-level I4 S is equipped with a standard 2.3-liter, I4, 160hp engine that achieves 23-mpg in the city and 31-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The V6 SEL is equipped with a standard 3.0-liter, V6, 221hp engine. It is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive.
The Fusion boasts of a clean exterior design and attention to details. These include features like tight panel gaps and external mirror shape. Its gasketless windshield and rear window glass help reduce noise inside the car, as does extensive use of a variety of noise-damping materials around the interior. All models have high-quality soft-touch synthetic materials on the instrument panel and doors. Controls for cruise, climate, and audio are mounted on the steering wheel.
A solid chassis structure and a carefully designed fully independent suspension give the car highway comfort, along with good handling. The six-speed automatic is smooth in operation. The power rack-and-pinion steering is responsive and precise. Large four-wheel disc brakes provide good stopping power.
