Ford Courier :
The Ford Courier is one of the best products to come out of the Ford factory. In North America, Australia and New Zealand, the Courier was a compact pick-up built by Mazda which dated from the 1970s. It was discontinued in North America with the introduction of the Ford Ranger.
Ford Couriers are available with a choice of two engines; the 2.6-liter petrol engine, and the 2.5-liter turbo-charged intercooled diesel engine. Ford has now braced its Courier light truck against tough new competition with a new V6 model. This engine produces a class-leading 154kW of power at 5250rpm and 323Nm of torque at 3000rpm. To help achieve this, the aluminum-headed sequential fuel-injected V6 features a two-stage variable induction system. This improves low to mid-range torque below 4000rpm.
The Courier comes in 4x2 and 4x4 Super Cab and Crew Cab styles, in GL and XLT specifications. Ford has made air-conditioning, which is an $1800 option in most other Courier models, standard across the V6 range. The V6 4x4 automatic models now have a rear-to-four-wheel drive selector switch activated from inside the cabin. In addition, the new model boasts of improved comfort, better audio, fresh instrumentation graphics, redesigned tail-light and new style wheels.
For safety, the Ford Courier has a driver’s airbag, along with side door anti-intrusion beams and a collapsible steering column. In conclusion, it is a suitably functional vehicle. If you need a compact light truck with enough power to pull heavy loads, then the reasonably priced Courier V6 should be on your list of options.
